LAURA

 LINEBACK

Laura Lineback is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist with an MFA from Syracuse University. She uses humor, observation, and an evolving creative practice to question cultural norms and explore themes such as feminism, the body, mortality, and power.

Originally trained in painting, Laura’s work has expanded over time to include a wide range of forms, guided less by medium and more by concept. Her practice is project-based and often rooted in research, but always leaves space for instinct, improvisation, and play.

Whether creating a public sculpture, writing a song, or building a set, she brings the same critical curiosity and creative problem-solving to every project she takes on.

“Jack of all trades, master of none?”

The phrase “Jack of all trades, master of none” is often misunderstood. The original version, “Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than master of one,” was meant as praise, not criticism.

For Laura, cross-disciplinary work isn’t a lack of focus but a layered creative practice. Each medium informs the others, sharpening insight and opening new connections.
